Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I be visiting the dentist?
Generally, Dr. Ronan Freyne recommends that patients undergo at least two comprehensive dental checkups and two cleanings each year, or one every six months on average. In certain cases (for instance, if a patient is struggling with periodontal disease, or they’ve been found to suffer from teeth that are particularly oversensitive to decay), we may recommend more frequent appointments for the sake of our valued patient’s ongoing oral health and wellbeing.
I want to straighten my smile, but I definitely do NOT want to wear ugly metal braces. What are my options?
Our dental team understands these concerns well, and the last thing we want is for our patients to struggle through months or even years of being unhappy with their appearance for the sake of straighter teeth. That’s why Dr. Freyne offers aesthetic-based orthodontic options here in Chevy Chase, MD! With the help of Invisalign or Six Month Smiles, it’s easier than ever to correct gaps and misaligned teeth in a nicely subtle and professional-looking fashion.
My smile is healthy, but it doesn’t look very good. Can you help me improve its appearance?
Of course! Our cosmetic dental services are designed to erase those frustrating imperfections and leave you with better, brighter teeth that look just as amazing as they feel. Dr. Freyne will work with you closely during an initial consultation to determine which treatment options fit your personal preferences and goals best, whether it’s teeth whitening, a custom-made porcelain veneer, or some simple direct bonding. Better yet, our efforts don’t just stop at the smile – custom facials and spa services are available in our office as well!
My smile needs a ton of work. Is there any hope of saving it?
Definitely. Dr. Freyne understands that sometimes, the thought of undergoing all the procedures you need to regain a set of strong, functional teeth seems overwhelming – but with our team’s compassionate and experienced support, it’s more than doable. In fact, Dr. Freyne greatly enjoys these advanced cases! Together, we’ll develop a personalized full mouth reconstruction plan that will make the treatment process as convenient, affordable, and rewarding as possible.
Is it true that a dentist can help treat my sleep apnea?
Yes, it is. If you’ve been diagnosed by a physician with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, oral appliance therapy is a very effective method of combating this condition and helping you finally get a good night’s rest – and no one understands how your teeth and jaw work better than a dentist like Dr. Freyne! He can design the ideal mouth guard that repositions your oral components just enough to allow air to flow freely.
Do you take my dental insurance?
Yes! Our team is happy to file claims on the patient’s behalf for virtually all major PPO dental plans. To learn more about the dental insurance and financial options available to you here in Chevy Chase, please visit our new patients page.
